Privacy Policy
College Broadband, Inc. (CBB, “we,” or “us”) provides services, products, information, and community offerings through www.collegebroadband.com. CBB maintains the www.collegebroadband.com site. It is designed to provide access to information, goods, and services that facilitate the transition from high school to college and optimize the educational experience of K-12 students. CBB recognizes the importance of protecting the privacy rights of our users. Any information shared between users and CBB via www.collegebroadband.com is securely managed and safeguarded in accordance with all applicable laws and the policies and guidelines set forth below.
Changes to Privacy Statement
These guidelines have been developed with the recognition that Internet technologies are rapidly evolving. From time to time, we may need to change our privacy statement because of changes in the law, in technology, in CBB's business, or in our attempts to serve your needs better. We will use every effort to communicate in a timely manner any changes to our privacy statement in the manner described in the www.collegebroadband.com Web Site Terms and Conditions. Below we explain how we may collect personal information, what we do with it, and how we protect it.
Information that CBB gathers via www.collegebroadband.com
As of now, CBB gathers two kinds of personal information via www.collegebroadband.com: (1) your email address if you choose to sign up for CBB’s free email newsletter, and (2) information required for payment if you choose to make a purchase in the Web site’s “E-Store.” If you choose not to provide the required information in either case, we will not be able to provide access to such areas and/or special services, or complete such transactions.
Information gathered through traffic monitoring
Like many other Web sites, www.collegebroadband.com is equipped with a program that monitors traffic by automatically recording every visitor's host, domain name, pages visited, length of user sessions, browser type and/or IP address. This program tracks the number of times the site is hit, how many visitors come to the site, which parts of the site they frequent, and the length of time of each visit. This information does not contain personally identifiable details and is used to evaluate areas of interest and to improve the www.collegebroadband.com site and may be provided to third parties by CBB or its affiliates.
Information gathered through obtaining services and making purchases
CBB collects via www.collegebroadband.com your email address if you wish to subscribe to the email newsletter and/or identifying and financial information necessary to complete a purchase through the Web site’s “E-Store,” all of which the user provides voluntarily. A user's email address and other personally identifiable information collected from product orders or email newsletter registration are used only as described in this Privacy Policy and for the purposes of offering you goods and services that, in the opinion of CBB and its affiliates, may facilitate the transition from high school to college and/or optimize a K-12 student’s educational experience. By providing such information, the user consents to www.collegebroadband.com's Privacy Policy, including the uses of the information described in this Policy.
Sharing of Information
CBB will not knowingly sell, share, rent or otherwise transfer your information other than in accordance with the terms set forth in this Privacy Policy.
- CBB never sells, shares, rents or otherwise transfers information that it gathers from visitors who make purchases in the CBB “E-Store.”
- If you sign up for the email newsletter, CBB may share your email address with third parties who have products, services, and opportunities relevant to college-bound K-12 students and their parents, including but not limited to colleges, universities, scholarship sponsors, data aggregators, marketers (possibly in the form of list rental), and other organizations.
- CBB may also share broad aggregate demographic data and related usage information with our business partners. This aggregate information does not contain any personal details that could identify any individual user.
- Third Party Service Providers: From time to time, CBB may decide that it is more efficient to use third parties to perform specific services, such as sending newsletters to CBB's users. If we use a third party to provide specific services (such as sending newsletters to our users on our behalf), then information (such as contact information) may be shared with that party to the extent necessary for the third party to provide these services. These third party service providers are only allowed to use personally identifiable information for the purpose of providing the specific services requested by CBB. The third party services covered by this paragraph do not include links from our site to third party sites (those links are governed by a more specific provision, “Links to Other Sites,” below).
- Disclosure to Law Enforcement and Similar Disclosures: While CBB strives to protect the personal information of our users, CBB will release personal information if required by law or in the good-faith belief that such action is necessary or appropriate.
